Need motivation while cycling in the mountains?

About Wild Steve

Steve Greene is a naturalist, free thinker, and seeker of truth. He pursues absolute truth in all things, modifying his existence as supported by legitimate evidence. His ideological foundation rests on the respect of life, as he follows a path of health, serenity, and maximum functional longevity. He has authored eleven books, and is a noted authority on Death Valley National Park, human powered recumbent tricycle touring, health and fitness, and professional law enforcement. Steve has not owned a petroleum powered automobile since 2008, as part of his environmental preservation paradigm. He thrives on a whole food plant-based diet, exercises regularly (bodybuilding, hiking, cycling), and enjoys exploring the wilderness, beyond the bounds of human dominance. Harmony with nature tops his priorities.

Not a motivation, but a real life nightmare…! I actually had a family friend who was eaten by a bear, or was in the process of eating her.. Anyway I remember my grandmother telling us the story after a National Park trip.. It seems to my recollection that she had gotten out of the car to use a out house, and what had happened was the bear was caught in the out house because the door swings in, and not out and the bear was trapped in the out house so when she went in the bear emerged from one of the stalls and mauled her and because of how long the ranger station believed the bear was trapped in the outhouse was hungry and was the reason why the bear started to eat her.. The story was the ranger station was alerted to another call a few days previous to her being eaten by the same bear who was loitering around another facility but had escaped capture only to have consumed her 2 or 3 days later…! Normally bears do not eat people they only attack when felt threatened,or extreme cases such as this where the bear was forging for food in the first place… This is what was explained to the family by the Park Rangers, and handed down by Grandma… Terrible ending to a good story…!
